Bromsgrove Holiday Inn which canceled weddings to be a Red List quarantine hotel reopens

The Holiday Inn in Bromsgrove has reopened to the public after spending nearly four months as a quarantine hotel for travelers returning from Red List countries.

Members of the public can now book to stay or use the Kidderminster Road hotel, Bromsgrove.

It closed for general use on June 24 when people who had booked weddings had to cancel, postpone or move their big day to another location.

IHG, which operates the hotel, has agreed to the government using Worcestershire City premises for anyone returning from Red List countries.

But from 4 a.m. on Monday, November 1, there will be no more countries on the UK’s red list as the government has declared that the remaining seven destinations – Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama , Peru and Venezuela – would be deleted. .

Security guards were previously stationed outside the Holiday Inn to prevent quarantined people from leaving and others from entering the site.

But the hotel has now returned to its usual routine, with no cones preventing entry to the parking lot and vacationers can book rooms online.



Jon Shaw and Wendy Thornton of Redditch whose wedding at the Holiday Inn in Bromsgrove was called off because it became a Red List quarantine hotel.

Among those who saw their wedding dreams shattered were Jon Shaw and Wendy Thornton of Church Hill, Redditch. Hotel staff told them on June 19 that their wedding scheduled for July 17 could not take place at the site.

They only managed to save their marriage with the help of the local registrar, who arranged a waiver for a change of venue to the Westmead Hotel in Alvechurch.

A spokeswoman for IHG confirmed the hotel had reopened and said “The Bromsgrove Holiday Inn is now open normally for reservations.”
