Friday After 5 Main Stage move from RiverPark Center to Holiday Inn; other plans announced

Friday After 5 is “moving west” this summer, including moving its main concert stage from the RiverPark Center to the Holiday Inn and bringing the stages closer together. The organization has announced its initial plans for the 26th season – with the theme “Picture This” – featuring new scenes, special events and more.

FA5 will once again be a free 16-week community music festival with music and events the whole family can enjoy. Officials said this year they were working to create a relaxed and entertaining family season located in a central setting.

“We are pleased to see the direction Friday After 5 has taken over the past year,” said FA5 President Chad Day.

This year, the street fair will begin at Frederica Street, continuing along Veterans Boulevard and turning at Locust Street (located on the west side of the convention center).

The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum will host special family events; the Romain Overlook stage (the waterfront pavilion near the VFW) will once again feature music; Lure Seafood & Grille will provide food and entertainment; the Ruoff Party Stage at the Convention Center returns; and the new main concert stage will be the Jagoe Homes Riverfront Stage at Holiday Inn.

Special evenings and concerts are also planned at Mitch McConnell Plaza.

“We are excited for the upcoming 2022 season of Friday After 5,” said Tim Ross, Public Events Manager for the City of Owensboro. “The FA5 committee continues to evolve and set the bar for live entertainment to kick off the weekend in cities across the country and we look forward to another stellar year.”

Kicking off this season will be the return of the Friday After 5 – 5K for runners and walkers in partnership with the Athletics Department of the University of Brescia.

The season will include a Beatles Rock Show, a Nicky Hayden Foundation night, a night with award-winning band The Motels, a night to honor first responders and support heroes, and parades with youth from baseball tournaments and visiting softball.
