The owners of Holiday Inn Express & Suites have helped the Illuminating Dreams fundraising campaign by donating $50,000. This is the sixth diamond donation to the campaign and the ninth donation of $50,0000 or more announced so far.

“We are so fortunate to have a business like Holiday Inn establish itself in our community,” Deputy Vice Mayor and Campaign Co-Chair Mike Myatt said in a news release. “Their contribution to Lamont Sports Park will enable Saugeen Shores to host major ball tournaments. Now these ball players have a place to play and another place to stay.

“We are thrilled to be part of Lamont Sports Park,” said Larry Dunn of Summerside Hospitality, the group that owns the hotel. “Thanks to the vision of the Town of Saugeen Shores council, staff and many volunteers, the community will soon be opening a world-class sports facility. Many thanks to everyone involved, including all the other sponsors.

The Grand Slam diamond donation entitles the group to a branded Holiday Inn Express Way in the park. They will also receive recognition at the park’s opening ceremony in 2023 and a mention on the park’s lifetime giving board.

The fundraising campaign aims to raise funds for the construction of phase 2 of the Lamont Sports Park. This includes two youth baseball diamonds and an accessible playground. The new construction will be in addition to the four baseball diamonds built in Phase 1.
