Holiday Valley Tubing Opens Today, Weather Permitting | News

ELLICOTTVILLE – Those wishing to celebrate the first day of winter and the start of the school vacation can visit Holiday Valley Tubing Co. on its opening day today, weather permitting.

This tube park is located on Route 242, a five-minute drive from downtown Ellicottville.

“We made enough snow there,” said Jane Eshbaugh, Marketing Director at Holiday Valley. “We won’t have all 22 lanes, but a lot of open lanes, weather permitting.”

The tube slide park offers up to 22 routes which are downhill runs 100 feet long by 900 feet. In addition to the single-width lanes, three group lanes allow you to connect with friends and experience the thrills together.

New this season, the old towing handle has been replaced with a brand new elevator conveyor. The elevator passed state inspection on Tuesday, Eshbaugh said. Just grab your tube, step on it, and you climb to the top.

“It increases the capacity of the elevator, so more people can do more trips when you get on it,” she said.

In addition, three state-of-the-art HKD fans and six new HKD tower cannons were installed to produce more snow in a shorter period of time, using less energy. Holiday Valley received a state grant to purchase the fans, Eshbaugh said.

“We started getting a fair amount of snow a while ago,” she added.

For children under the age of 7, a special Small Tubers area is available, weather permitting. There is a cozy hut at the foot of the hill with a snack bar, fireplace and toilet. Or you can warm up and rest outside at the giant bonfire.

Eshbaugh said the tube park is great for everyone, regardless of athletic ability or level of fitness.

“Sometimes people come to visit and everyone in the group isn’t skiing or snowboarding, or some local people aren’t interested in skiing or snowboarding and just want to go out and have some fun,” a- she declared.

The Holiday Valley Tubing Company is located at the corner of Rt. 242 and Bryant Hill Road, just 4 miles from Holiday Valley. A free shuttle service to and from Holiday Valley is available every two hours during opening hours. Pick-up is from the resort’s service center.

The tube season runs from December 21, 2018 to March 24, 2019, weather permitting. The opening hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Daytime week and school break week.
