Public holidays in December: All private and public sector banks across the country will remain closed for six of the remaining seven days in December, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday list. After the holiday season for the past two months, banks had fewer state holidays in December as the holiday season ended in India. This month there is only one national holiday – Christmas – when banks will be closed evenly across the country. Public holidays are notified annually according to a list prepared by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The list for December of this year has up to seven holidays, some of which have been sold out.

Having said that, if you want to do any bank related work, you should take note of those holidays in December to get the work done smoothly. However, in this regard you should also keep in mind that this should not be of great concern as these holidays are state dependent. For this, only certain branches of banks in the respective states will remain closed on the aforementioned days. For example, on December 24 there is a public holiday in Aizawl and Shillong on the occasion of Christmas Eve. However, banks in other parts of the country will remain open on this day.

This month’s public holidays include Christmas. However, Christmas falls on the second Saturday of the month, which is already a notified bank holiday. So, by adding the seven public holidays and the six weekend holidays, the net number of public holidays in December is 12, with the Christmas holidays overlapping. Of those 12 holidays, only six were sold out in the first 23 days of December, and in the past seven days banks will close up to six of them in all states.

Public holidays come into effect according to a list published by the Reserve Bank of India or RBI. According to a central bank list, the number of public holidays has been set at seven this month. The others are weekend holidays. This includes every Sunday of the month, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays. Banks remain open on the first and third Saturday of each month. The RBI’s list of holidays falls into three categories. These are state celebrations, religious holidays, and festival celebrations.

The Reserve Bank of India’s notice regarding public holidays was notified under three categories, including “Holidays under the Tradable Instruments Act”, “Holidays under the Tradable Instruments Act and public holidays. for gross settlement in real time ”and“ Closing of bank accounts ”. On these notified holidays, all bank branches, including the public sector, private sector, foreign banks, cooperative banks and regional banks, will remain closed.
