Schools, colleges and other educational institutions in Karnataka will be closed today, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, due to continued heavy rain. All educational institutions in Dakshin Kannada and Udupi districts have been ordered by their respective district governments to remain closed today due to heavy rains recorded in coastal areas.
All Karnataka schools, anganwadi centers, PU colleges, university colleges and other educational institutions in Dakshin Kannada and Udupi have been closed due to orange alert issued by Indian Meteorological Department, IMD till tomorrow .
According to the IMD, the coastal region of the southern state is likely to receive isolated and very heavy rainfall till July 7, 2022. Following this, the district administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi declared a public holiday for all educational institutions.

In accordance with previous orders, educational institutions were also closed on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 due to continued rains in coastal areas of the state. DK Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra and Udupi DC M Kurma Rao are the ones who gave the orders and declared the holidays in their respective districts.

According to a PTI report, DC Udupi also said that all private and public colleges and schools in the district will remain closed today.

At present, the incessant rains in the two coastal districts of Karnataka have resulted in landslides and damage to houses. In many areas, such as Ullal in DK and Kundapur and Maravanthe beaches in Udupi district, reports of sea erosion have also been recorded. Roads in the regions were also flooded with rainwater, causing traffic blockages and other blockages in several places.
