Whether you are a Londoner, a seasoned traveler or a first-time visitor to our beautiful city, it is essential that you know the best places to stay on a budget, either for yourself or to recommend to others. After a day exploring Buckingham Palace and Camden Market, or an evening in Shoreditch or Soho, it’s essential that you find a decent place to rest your eyes and wake up refreshed for the next day.

Chain hotels are often your best bet if you’re looking to stay in London and can’t afford to completely destroy your bank balance. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that whether it’s a hotel, restaurant, or airline, chains can always differ based on location and staff. . To save you from scrolling through TripAdvisor for hours, MyLondon has compiled a list of the city’s top-rated Best Western, Premier Inn, Travelodge and Holiday Inn – so you can try them out or tell your friends and family about them.

As with pubs, restaurants and even local attractions, TripAdvisor ranks every hotel in London based on its reviewer ratings. For the purposes of this list, we researched each chain’s hotel with the lowest ranking relative to the others – with potentially surprising results. We only included hotels with more than 100 reviews. The best chain hotels in the city can be found below:

Holiday Inn – West London



Business leaders say “you’re guaranteed a memorable stay” if you book at the Holiday Inn West London branch, a short walk from North Acton’ London tube station. Visitors will experience the beautifully designed lobby and brand new executive rooms, some of which offer views of the city’s magnificent skyline.

The hotel on Portal Way Gypsy Corner (W3) is conveniently located between Heathrow Airport and central London, with Park Royal, London’s largest business park, and Wembley Stadium just minutes away by car.

A recent review, from a guest who stayed on New Years Eve, reads: “Stayed here in New York. Got up early around noon and was able to check in. Clean room and tidy.The bathroom could use a bit of updating but everything was clean.

“Beautiful views over London, and not too far into the city. Breakfast was of incredible quality, and everything was piping hot. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, as were all the staff we We met. Would definitely stay there again!”

Premier Inn Lewisham



Situated on Lewisham High Street (SE13), this Premier Inn is the ideal place to stay if you are looking for excellent transport links to central London and a lively urban atmosphere. Close to the DLR and just 10 minutes from London Bridge by train, this hotel is ideal for business travelers heading to Canary Wharf and for anyone wanting to spend time in Greenwich Park, the Royal Museums and Blackheath.

The website describes the luxurious room as saying, “At the end of a long day, you can relax in style in one of the modern rooms, each featuring an impressive 40-inch flat-screen TV, a bright, modern bathroom with a large shower head, and the all-new, sleep-inducing Hypnos king-size bed.

A recent review for this hotel, which is ranked 170th out of 1,202 hotels in London, reads: “Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Premier Inn. Clean rooms, friendly staff, always on hand to help, and a lovely little Christmas selection box left by the staff, my son loved it! And perfect location, can’t wait to go back.”

Travelodge – London City



The London City Travelodge on Middlesex Street (E1) is the most ideal location for exploring central London. The Tower of London and Sky Garden are both a 10-minute walk away, while it’s also less than a mile from The Shard. It’s also only about two miles from Covent Garden and the London Eye – but if you don’t fancy the walk, that’s what the London Underground is for.

A recent 5 out of 5 review reads: “Came for a weekend away with my partner and it was truly amazing, the staff were so helpful and welcoming, especially Darren at the bar! He made cocktails amazing and was extremely helpful throughout our stay! Look forward to coming back.” The hotel ranks 133 out of 1,202 hotels in London.

Hotel Best Western – Plus Delmere



Completely rebuilt in 2015, the Best Western Plus Delmere Hotel on Sussex Gardens (W2) is located in the heart of London. A five minute walk from Paddington Station and the Heathrow Express, you’ll find plenty of Tubes and buses to all of London’s major sights.

The hotel is a stone’s throw from Hyde Park and within walking distance of the world-class shopping of Oxford Street and the nightlife of Soho. You can also take direct Tubes to London’s two Westfield shopping centres. Company bosses say the place is “a great place to relax, morning or evening, before hitting the streets of London”.

A recent review says: “Nice, small and compact but great finishings. Very comfortable bed and fairly quiet one night road. Extremely helpful staff and willing to go the extra mile. We are looking to stay here when we return with family. “
